The number of people with a mental illness and/or substance use disorder housed in jails has increased significantly over the past several years due to substantial changes in jail populations. Research shows drug overdose is one of the leading causes of death among people recently released from correctional facilities. The NC Department of Health and Human Services will facilitate a FREE conference on the use of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in jails on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 9am to 12:30pm at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh. Please contact Margaret Bordeaux at Margaret.Bordeaux@dhhs.nc.gov if you would like to register to attend this conference.
