Systematic studies and meta-analyses are of the highest value for evidence on prognosis, efficacy, effectiveness, and risk. But they often do not reflect the complexity of individual patient experiences or cases in their contexts. Case reports can provide valuable information of a different type that can impact medicine across several domains.
