Controversy has surrounded the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain in 2016, with many critics claiming that the guidelines made it more difficult for severe pain patients to receive the medication they need. The CDC has issued a new commentary on the 2016 guidelines intended to clarify them and offer assistance implementing them in a useful, beneficial manner.
