  • Describe the CDC’s update to opioid prescribing guidelines for chronic pain.
  • Identify indications for opioid therapy and how to effectively determine if continued therapy is successful/warranted.
  • Offer other methods (both non-pharmacologic and non-opioid pharmacologic) to effectively treat chronic pain.
  • Explain these guidelines as well as statewide initiatives to other healthcare providers and patients.
  • Utilize available tools and resources more effectively in order to assist patients at risk of excessive opioid use.
